Training & Experience

I earned my Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) from Fuller Graduate School. I received extensive training in hospital, community mental health, and private practice settings, including the Institute for Girls’ Development, Child and Family Guidance Center, Las Encinas Hospital, and Stuart House at the Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center.  My experiences have involved the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with various psychological presentations, including anxiety, depression, family conflicts, developmental and learning disability, and trauma.  I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, where I had the opportunity to be trained by experts in trauma and health psychology, as well as participate in clinical research on the implementation of an emotion-focused, psychodynamically informed treatment for chronic pain. I have engaged in research focusing on the neurological effects of early-life adversity and the creation and implementation of effective mental health treatments and prevention efforts for people across the lifespan.  My work has spanned a number of psychology labs, including the Developmental Affective Neuroscience Lab, the Child F.I.R.S.T lab at UCLA, and Center for Mental Health in Schools.  I have presented my research at multiple conferences, including the Los Angeles County Psychological Association annual convention, American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology national convention, and the Asian American Psychological Association national convention.

Philosophy & Style

My therapeutic style is active, direct, warm, and genuine. I care deeply about keeping the relationship collaborative and safe. I am passionate about helping clients develop a richer understanding of themselves and changing old patterns in pursuit of a more meaningful and engaged life.

I believe in a personalized, culturally-responsive approach to therapy. Therapy with me is informed by research and by psychodynamic, attachment, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based traditions. My training has given me a unique understanding of attachment needs, interpersonal patterns, and emotional regulation across the lifespan.
